THE PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY – MAHLER’S “TITAN”

PITTSBURGH SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Manfred HONECK, conductor

The Pittsburgh Symphony unleashed all its power in Mahler’s Titan Symphony, a hugely exuberant orchestral showpiece. Regarding their recent recording of this work, the Pittsburgh Tribune Review wrote: “For all the power Honeck draws from the Pittsburgh Symphony, it is the conductor’s richly nuanced interpretation that brings to life the personality embedded in the score.
… The dynamic arch of the phrases, their rhythmic nuances that convey personality and their wide range of articulation and tone color are blended into remarkable eloquence
by Honeck and the players.”
