Not only did some evenings at Lanaudière make the Festival’s history; they also forged its reputation. Here is undoubtedly one such event, dated July 18, 1997: the debut of a young Russian violinist, only 23 years of age, whom the word was yet to discover and whose star was beginning its meteoric rise.
His name? Maxim Vengerov…
